Waitress – 7/10

This movie started and was fine. Then it started to get better… then it got much worse. I’m really tired of seeing movies that have a girl in an affair which ends at the end of the movie. I’m sorry, but just once I’d like to see the girl actually end up with the person she is supposed to be with… the guy she was having the affair with. I don’t care if they have to divorse their respective spouses. If they love each other… well then… I don’t know. I mean I can see both sides of it, but seriously. You can’t live your life unhappy. And I know she didn’t end up unhappy, but come on. Honestly, you know things would have been better if she had ended up with the weird doctor.
There were bits of humor that were enjoyable enough, and that doctor was pretty entertaining at times. But then there were long stretches of relative boredom and little in the way of surprises. Those parts… not so much a fan.
I think there is a good movie in this… the version I saw just wasn’t quite it. I gave it a 7/10 because while there wasn’t a whole lot happening that I haven’t seen in a movie before, the few things that were new and different were new and different enough to make me really enjoy it. It’s worth checking out once… but I wish there was an alternate ending on the DVD so that I for once live out my fantasy of seeing a movie that handles an affair in a different, maybe less “practical” way (and maybe it would get some people mad if they are against this sort of thing… not to say that I generally am for it)… I just want to see a happy affair ending for once, damn it! You know what, no one is going to write that are they? Well, I’m going to. Screw it. New script. It’s officially in the 12 feature movie script queue that I’m currently working my slow way through writing. It’s called… Hm…
