Metropolis – 3/10

One of Max’s anime picks for our marathon… I was significantly more invested in this one than I was the others we had watched so far… however, that was not enough to pull this one up to my “pretty good” category.

The story was fairly simple really with a few odd characters thrown in with weird subplots that just weren’t weird enough frankly. Again, we have animation that is at best, relatively easy on the eyes, and not much to keep me especially interested in the characters, even in the end. The little girl character seems to be a regular staple of anime films and this one wasn’t much different to me even though she’s a machine in this one. That one huge change in the ordinary “little anime girl” wasn’t even enough of a difference to be THAT different.

The time spend watching this movie isn’t time that I necessarily want back, but I don’t think I’ll be checking this one out again any time soon. Sorry, Max.
